It’s spring, and on hundreds of college campuses across the country, that means it’s time for Recyclemania. GreeND kicked off a series of recycling awareness events beginning with a St. Patrick’s Day Party on the Fieldhouse Mall, which featured recycling displays, cookies, drinks, free reusable cups, and a drawing for great recycled prizes. More great events are coming up in the next few days:
Drop in for a few minutes to learn all about the value of recycling, what can and cannot be recycled, and how you can make a difference. 15 minute presentations are continuous.
Thursday March 19th and Tuesday March 31st from 7 to 9pm in the LaFortune Montgomery Room
Recyclemania Art Show
From now until April, dorms will compete to build the most creative piece of artwork from recyclables. On April 2nd, the art will be judged and displayed in LaFortune Dooley Room. The winning dorm will receive a brand new set of basketballs made from recycled rubber. Details about the competition will be distributed at Hall Presidents’ Council. Talk to your hall council about getting involved.
Thursday April 2nd from 7 to10pm in the LaFortune Dooley Room
Look for recycling displays at tables in dining halls and LaFortune throughout the rest of March.
Enthusiasm for more Recyclemania events is high after the successful St. Patrick’s Day Kickoff. “People really got to see the great potential recycling has to reduce waste in landfills and make new creations like our unique door prizes,” said Connor Kobeski ‘10. Meehan Lenzen ’11 added, "The St. Paddy’s Day atmosphere on campus and the beautiful weather made it a great day to be promoting going green!" See our Facebook page for more Recyclemania photos.
