Founders’ Day

(part of a series)

Founders Day

In the past, the University hosted Founders’ Day as an annual celebration tied to the Feast of Edward the Confessor, Patron Saint of Fr. Edward Sorin, C.S.C. The campus community would use this celebration as a way to honor Fr. Sorin and the founding of Notre Dame du Lac.

The University is now reviving the celebration of Founders’ Day, seizing the opportunity to celebrate the founding of the University by taking a deeper look at our own history so as to understand our present and to reimagine our future.

This two-day event will begin with Mass on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 5:15 p.m. in the Basilica. All are welcome to gather for prayer. Additional details about Founders' Day and event opportunities can be found at foundersday.nd.edu.
