Notre Dame vs. Michigan Game Day Recycling

Location: University of Notre Dame Campus

How does it work?

At each home game, teams of volunteer students circulate through the Stadium, Joyce, Library, Bulla, Burke, Bookstore, and several other tailgate lots across campus, distributing blue recycle bags to tailgate fans and answering questions about single stream recycling.

For the 2018 season, parking lot attendants will distribute 2 blue bags for recycling and 2 clear bag for trash to each incoming vehicle.

What can I recycle?

Empty glass and plastic bottles, aluminum cans

Where to get recycling bags:

Teams of volunteer students will circulate through the tailgate lots passing out additional blue bags for those who need them.

What kind of impact does this have?

Since its start in 2007, the Game Day Recycling program has diverted over 1,062 tons of materials from the landfill - the equivalent of about 39 semi-trucks full. We're on track this year to collect more than 100 tons of recycling this season.
