In partnership with Notre Dame Student Government’s Sustainability Department, the Office of Sustainability has installed a TerraCycle specialty recycling hub on the first floor of the LaFortune Student Center. TerraCycle specializes in reusing “difficult to recycle” products, and the containers can accept many common materials that are not recyclable in the regular campus system. These currently include pens, makeup packaging, disposable masks, K-Cups, plastic bags, and snack wrappers. Once the containers are full, they are returned to the appropriate processing facility where they will re-enter the economy as recycled goods.
