Opening Picnic features locally sourced food!

Food Services used almost 2.5 tons of locally sourced food for the Opening Picnic this year!

All of the local food, including 1,800 lbs of chicken from Ohio, 1,650 lbs of local burgers from Wisconsin, and 1,400 lbs of blueberries from Michigan, was sourced from within 250 miles of campus. The use of this food not only reduces the amount of carbon produced by traditional long distance shipping processes but also helps to support the local economy.

Locally sourced food was not the only first of the picnic- a sustainable and healthy vegan option was also offered for the first time!
