Thermostat Set Point Policy
The University has set ambitious goals to reduce its carbon emissions and continues to engage in several energy conservation measures, which include regulating heating, cooling, and ventilation systems (HVAC) on campus. Most buildings operate using a digital thermostat and are not manually adjustable. They automatically maintain the temperature within a range of 70 – 75 degrees whenever people are present. For buildings that still operate using manual thermostats, the space should respond to a change in the temperature setting. When adjusting your thermostat, please follow the Temperature Set-Point Policy, which is a maximum of 70 degrees in the heating season, within a 70-75 degree range in the cooling season.
If your thermostat does not respond or cannot maintain the desired temperature, please call the Work Control Center at 631-8888 and request a visit from campus maintenance.
