Game Day Recycling Season Begins

Game Day Recycling

The first game of the season featured some key changes to the Game Day Recycling program in an effort to improve upon last season’s success of 73 tons of avoided landfill waste.

The Office of Sustainability – in a partnership with Athletics, General Services, and Security – has coordinated the introduction of permanent blue recycling containers to the tailgate lots. These blue 55 gallon drums are marked with a white recycling emblem and replace the trash containers normally set out for games.

New blue recycling bag self-dispensing units were placed in the tailgating lots as well. These units are made from refurbished newspaper dispensers and have been attached to the light posts. Tailgaters can take as many recycling bags as they need from these self-dispensers and can then leave the full bags behind at their vehicles to be picked up during the game.

Please send any feedback about these changes to the Office of Sustainability at sustainability@nd.edu.
