How does it work?
At each home game, teams of volunteer students circulate through the Stadium, Joyce, Library, Bulla, Bookstore, and several other tailgate lots across campus, distributing blue recycle bags to tailgate fans and answering questions about single stream recycling.
For the 2017 season, parking lot attendants will distribute 2 blue bags for recycling and 1 clear bag for trash to each incoming vehicle.
What can I recycle?
Bottles, aluminum cans, plastics #1 through #6, clean cardboard and clean paper (no wax coating, please).
Where to get recycling bags:
Extra bags can be found in the blue refurbished newspaper vending boxes located at various light poles throughout the Stadium, Joyce, Library, and several other parking lots on campus.
What kind of impact does this have?
Since its start in 2007, the Game Day Recycling program has diverted over 941 tons of materials from the landfill - the equivalent of 24 full semi-trucks. We're on track this year to collect over 100 more tons of recycling.
