Best Night at the Park Ever

Location: Rum Village Nature Center

It will be the best night at the park ever with a campfire! Bring your own blankets, chairs, s'mores, and hot dogs. Additionally, there will be viewing of the documentary, "Everglades of the North: The Grand Kankakee Marsh" and a twilight hike through the woods. See the schedule for the activities below.

6:00 – 7:00 PM: Screening of “Everglades of the North: The Story of the Grand Kankakee Marsh” at the Nature Center auditorium (The marsh was one of the largest expanses of wetlands east of the Mississippi, and started near the intersection of Chapin and Western Ave.)

7:30 – 8:30 PM: Evening/twilight hike in the Rum Village woods. This hike is perfect for kids and adults of all ages. Be on the look out for owls and other animals throughout these quiet woods!

8:30 – 10:00 PM – Campfire: Bring your own s’mores, hot dogs, blankets, chairs and enjoy music by the roaring fire. The fire will be on the hill, past the playground and aerial adventure park (right off of the parking lot for disc golf on the right-hand side of the circle drive) To visit this event's Facebook page click here.
